International Day of People with Disabilities
We’re delighted to support our customer, Leonard Cheshire, in celebrating this event with their campaign #iseepurple.
Purple is the colour of disability and Leonard Cheshire want businesses and the public to raise awareness of, and show solidarity with, people with disabilities.
Leonard Cheshire have been supporting people for more than 70 years in the UK and around the world to open doors to opportunity and break down barriers that deny disabled people their basic rights. Their #iseepurple campaign will be focussing on the importance of connectivity given the vital lifeline technology has provided to everyone during the pandemic.
Despite the opportunities presented by tech, so many disabled people lack access, knowledge and confidence in utilising the digital world, which is something very close to Wanstor’s heart.
"As a provider of technology solutions for businesses across the UK and with a strong culture of togetherness, we want everyone to be able to access technology and use it to build better lives and futures and we are fully supportive of Leonard Cheshire’s #iseepurple campaign and are helping to raise awareness as much as we can by going purple", said Nicola Moss, Head of Marketing at Wanstor.
"We’re changing our Wanstor social media profile images to purple, encouraging staff to ‘show us their best purple’ throughout the day whether that be painting their nails, dressing up anything they can do to help raise the profile and support a fantastic cause for a long-standing customer of ours. We’re delighted to also start our collective fundraising activities off with a donation of £500."
Leonard Cheshire thanked Wanstor for helping the charity raise awareness and funds on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and Hugh Fenn, managing director of UK services at Leonard Cheshire said: "It’s been a tough, and lonely, time for us all. No one has felt the impact of this pandemic more than disabled people. Technology can help the people we support keep connected and feel less lonely in these challenging times, which is why our #ISeePurple campaign is raising funds ahead of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on the 3rd of December."
